Please pray for the family of Jerry Koenig (Copy)

Jerald Wayne Koenig

Dear friends and family of Jerry,

On Thursday, December 7th, Jerald Wayne Koenig breathed his last and finished his earthly journey. Jerry knew the day was coming for quite some time and was well-prepared. He shared many last “I love yous” and “goodbyes”. He died quietly.

I am comforted to know that Jesus won a great victory for Jerry. Death is defeated, evil is undone, and the world belongs to God and his children. God is giving Jerry and all who trust in him the gift of life. I pray that you have the same comfort and look to your own eternal rest:

“Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude… shouting, ‘Hallelujah! For our God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bridegroom has made himself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given him to wear.'” (Revelation 19)

We were blessed by Jerry’s love for kids and his desire to teach them the faith. Whether it was the soccer camp, vacation Bible school, or many different classes for children, Jerry lived God’s command from long ago: “Teach these things to your children and your children’s children.”

Please pray for the family of Ray Winkel

Ray Winkel

Dear friends and family of Ray

Dear friends and family of Ray,

On Thursday, November 9th, Ray finished his journey with us and was brought to his eternal rest in Jesus. Ray wanted to cross the finish line. I was privileged to read him some of his last words: “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.” Even though he was troubled a little at the end by sickness, he never wavered in God’s love for him. He was not shaken.

I am comforted to know that Jesus won a great victory for Ray. Death is defeated, evil is undone, and the world belongs to God and his children. God is giving Ray and all who trust in him the gift of life.

I don’t know of a person who wasn’t blessed by Ray when they spent time with him. I spoke with one of his caretakers the other night, who had only been with Ray for a few years. Even though they weren’t his best years, they meant a great deal to this young man. Ray similarly impacted me and many others. God used him to be a blessing.

Ray has been an integral part of Peace for many years. He was part of the committee that planned the first parsonage, he helped design the first bulletins, and he was on the board to start the day school. He celebrated the cancelation of the first mortgage.

Please pray for the family of Dave Myers

David Arthur William Myers

Dear friends and family of Dave

On Monday, August 28th David Arthur William Myers finished his journey with us and was brought to his eternal rest with Jesus. Christians everywhere have been represented well by Dave. He was baptized as a child and as a young adult consciously decided to live in that commitment. He made his faith evident at Peace and other congregations as an faithful father and husband, an elder, a Sunday School teacher, and loving Christian.

Now Dave has finished his race. I am comforted to know that Jesus won the race for him and so has assured him of the crown of life.

No matter what else Dave endured, he never turned away from the body of Christ. He missed it when he was not here. He eagerly desired the Lord’s Supper, confessed his sins, and sorrowed over the evil of life. His dear wife Jeanne faithfully cared and watched over him, and they worked mightily to love their friends and family.

We will miss his companionship.

Don was a powerful example of sin and grace. He was constantly confronted and rebuked by mistakes and failures, and only comforted by the good news of Jesus - nothing else gave him encouragement. Dear friends and family of Bernie Winkel,

On Monday December 21st Bernie was brought to glory to celebrate with his Savior. I am comforted to know that Bernie triumphs with all the saints because of Jesus, and I pray you may be as well. She experiences what we can only imagine: “Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude… shouting, ‘Hallelujah! For our God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bridegroom has made himself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given him to wear.'” (Revelation 19)

For Bernie’s obituary, please visit Bernadine M. Winkel | Winkel Funeral Home | Otsego Michigan

Visitation arrangements are posted in the obituary. Individuals may greet the family also on Thursday morning prior to the funeral.

Her funeral will take place indoors at Peace Lutheran Church on Thursday, December 24th at 11 am. It will also be streamed online at https://peaceotsego.org/worship

The funeral is open to the public, but attendance is limited. Please register in advance so we can prepare well by filling out the form below (if viewing online) or click https://peaceotsego.org/peacenews
