The Beginning of the End- It’s time to

The cartoon character holds a sign saying, “The End Is Near.” For Christians, this is not a message of fear. Instead, it is a message of watchful hope. Scripture teaches that the End Times began with Christ’s first coming, especially his death and resurrection. Christ will come again on judgment day. Now we live in that in-between time, when salvation has been won, but full glory is still to come. It’s the beginning of the end.

Jesus himself makes clear that no one knows the day or hour of his return. This uncertainty is not meant to trouble us, but to keep us spiritually awake. Each day becomes an opportunity to live in repentance and faith, turning from sin and trusting fully in Christ’s finished work for us. Our preparation for the end is not about trying to predict signs or earn God’s favor. Instead, it is about remaining rooted in Jesus: hearing the Word, receiving the sacraments, and trusting the

promises of forgiveness. These are God’s ways of keeping us ready. “The Beginning of the End” reminds us that history is moving toward our own death and toward Christ’s return. For believers, that end is truly a beginning.

Focus on the Future

Childbearing is excruciating. Yet each day countless women willingly become pregnant. They know that pain can be endured if it is temporary, with happier times coming immediately after. Likewise, the time between Christ’s first and second coming is full of hardship, especially for believers. How do we bear it? We remember that it is temporary. Happier times are coming!

That truth is crystal clear on All Saints’ Day. On this day we remember every saint who has gone before us. We have in mind all those who had faith in Jesus, both the heroes of faith in Scripture and all faithful Christian family members. They all endured hardship and pain. But no more. Now they enjoy perfect glory, peace, and joy. It’s the beginning of the end, and we endure by remembering all the saints, focusing on the future glory that awaits us.

Christian Neighbors

Bible Study:

Bible Study with Terry Brower starting Thursdays November 5th at 6:00 pm here at Peace, open to everyone. To dig deeper into the book of Proverbs. The book of Proverbs invites us to put our confidence in God’s loving plan, making his guidance our compass. By depending on him we gain trust and wisdom.

Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

Proverbs 16:3: "Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."

Voters Meeting

Voters meeting after service on November 8th after service at 12pm to discuss budget and next steps on ministry. Open to everyone please plan to attend.

Holiday Schedule

Upcoming Holiday Worship Schedule

With Pastor Rau covering both congregations and the similar worship schedules that both have historically had over the holidays and after discussions by both congregations councils, we have settled on the following schedule for worship for the special services at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

    • Thanksgiving worship will be held at St. James on Wednesday, November 25th at 7:00 PM. A pie social will follow the worship service. All are welcome. If you’d like to bring a pie to share, that would be great too. Both congregations will hold services on Christmas Eve.
    • Christmas Eve Worship at Peace will be at 5 PM.   Worship at St. James will be at 7 PM.
  • Christmas Day worship will be at Peace at 9:30 AM.

A note on the offerings given at those joint Thanksgiving and Christmas Day services. If you are giving an offering via cash or check, please use your envelope provided by Peace. After the Thanksgiving service, those envelopes will be kept separate and returned to Peace to be counted and deposited as usual. Online offerings through Breeze can be made as well. And on Christmas Day, offerings given by St. James members using their envelopes will be handled in the same way.
