Christians are people who believe in Jesus as their Savior. But they often look the same as those who do no t believe in Jesus. How are Christians different? The answer is often some thing internal\, attitudes or perspectives that come only from the work of the Holy Spirit in Word and sacrament. Ultimately\, Christians are people who run to Christ for forgiveness because they have failed to live perfec t lives. As we receive the mercy of Christ\, it moves us to strive with al l our being to do all the things\nthat Jesus says Christians do\, things t hat make Christians different.\n\n\n\nChristians Answer Doubt with Faith\n Wherever faith clings to the promises of God\, doubt is always lingering. Doubt asks the serpent’s garden question\, “Did God really say?” Peo ple doubt God’s care\, God’s promises\,or God’s providence. The answ er to doubt is not found in loud\, dramatic demonstrations.\n \nThe true answer to doubt is found in the still small voice of our Savior God whispe ring to us in his Word. Through Word and sacrament\, Christ reaches out to us with nail-scarred hands\, proof of his great love. Jesus gently says\, “Why did you doubt?” Our faith is restored. Christians answer doubt w ith faith.\n\n\n\nVoters Meeting August 2nd :  Over the past month there has been conversations and interest in discussing joint ministry with Port age. During the voters meeting on August 2nd it was decided to suspend a p astoral call for now\, so as a congregation we can further discuss a possi ble joint ministry\, and what that will look like. If you have any questio ns please reach out to the council. It is a dedic ated pool of money set aside by the church to help provide short term emer gency financial assistance to people experiencing hardships. If you would like to give a financial gift please put it in an envelope marked “benev olence fund” in the offering basket.\nVolunteers sign ups:\nTo sign up f or volunteer opportunities please let Shelly Wedge know what you would lik e to sign up for and I will send you an emailed invitation. We only need 2 people a month as we have a cleaning ser vice come in every other week.\nSlides: Ellise and Shelly would be happy t o show you how to do the slides\, and set with you as you learn if you are interested.
